Ok so I’m overdue with posting about my trip, as someone coughliyacough, keeps reminding me. But better late than never right?
My original plan was for Japan. For obvious reasons that was no longer feasible and I had to change it. The end result, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Bangkok (Thailand). To keep the last minute change simple I stuck to those three major cities but it was just amazing. Each had their own highlights, friendly people, and fabulous food! This trip I went with my friend Ali (whom you may remember from my Egypt trip as well) and I was also able to meet up with some friends currently living in Singapore and Bangkok.
Oh on the way we transferred through Chicago
And we flew over the north pole!!! well maybe not exactly over the very top, but still it was really cool. sadly, i couldn’t spot a polar bear hehe
The first stop on the trip was Singapore. I was there for…3 days roughly. I really wasn’t sure what to expect. I thought it was going to be a big city but wasn’t sure how much there was really unique to see and do there. I was really pleasantly surprised.
We got there fairly late at night and went for basically a 1am walk around the area. Ended up at a really nice outdoor food court that apparently stays open to 5am. There I had this amazing chill crab.
The next two days we covered a lot of ground! China Town, Little India, and Malai Town. Each place had a lot of culture and the markets everyone let me use my bargaining skills haha. Though most of bargaining happened in Bangkok (it was the cheapest place so I saved most of my shopping for then). I loved the colours and how green everything was.
As much as I love warm weather, dang it was hot though! Had to keep going in malls and inside to escape the heat. The subway was pretty good but occassionally we had to take cabs and I have to say, thats one thing I didn’t like. Its soooo hard to get a cab! The demand is huge but the supply is terrible. I think it’s because the taxi fares are really regulated or something.
So when we weren’t checking out the various city areas. We went to check out the main tourist sites. The Singapore Flyer which is a giant ferris wheel that lets you get an amazing view of the city. Similar to the London Eye. Then we also went to Sentosa. Basically think of an amusement park but really for the whole family. Maybe a small version of disney land with a water area, adventure area, more of a show area, etc. I can only guess since I’ve actually not been to disney land. But ya, it had a lot of different sections. I only checked out a bit but if I had more time I definitely would have done a few more things there.

I like going through your travel photographs; they’re so much “fun”.
That picture you took inside the temple…was photography actually allowed there? It appears like nobody else’s taking pictures
Also, I do not know how you manage to fit Singapore into one blog post! I need at least 5 blog posts per city.
Thanks
Photography was allowed yes, you just have to be respectful of others. And haha its b/c I get a bit lazy. There is a ton to write about and I love the details in your posts. I guess I can do a better job with that.
FINALLY!! lol
I love how you guys flew over the north pole, I didn’t even know planes went over that way!
For day time zoo pics you have some pretty good ones, like the hippos with their mouths open together.
And I like the boat on top of the building – but is there something special in it? It looks maybe like a restaurant?
Yeah, it was really cool to fly that way. The zoo was fun, not just to see the animals, but I had fun playing with my camera there, and thanks, I liked how the pics turned out too. The boat building is a hotel/casino/restaurant.
I’m back from the States and kinda expected to see a little more happening here!! Where’s your next post??! Come on, I need some inspiration to start writing again too!
‘liya
Yeah, I know I know….I just dont’ have a lot of motivation right now. And when I feel motivated, I’m not by my computer haha. But ya, less than a month to my trip so I guess I better get at it…
Amazing photos! Especially the zoo photos
Glad you enjoyed your time in Singapore.
I just wanted to add something about the boat at the top of the building has a swimming pool(infinity pool) and a bar.
Marina Bay Sands (http://buzzraid.com/amazing-infinity-pool-at-the-marina-bay-sands-in-singapore/ )…
if you dont live in the hotel, you can pay $20 to get up there
